Lagare atbp.

I’m supposed to be resting in preparation for my operation on Wednesday but I’ve spent most of today getting some medical tests done (EKG, Xray, etc) This is supposedly a requirement of Philamhealth for them to issue an Authorization for Operation. What I cant understand is why they didnt tell me about it last week when I specifically asked for a list of processes and submissions required for my operation. I have a feeling they are extracting some payment for the money they have to shell out for the operation.

I’m fasting right now because I need to get some blood tests tomorrow morning. Haay.

Then a meeting at 11am with a client.

Then a meeting with Pilar at 2pm to check out the album layouts

Then back to the clinic at 3pm to pick up test results.

Then back to Philam to submit the fucking results and get my authorization.

Then on to the office to pick up my stuff.

Then to the hospital to check in.

Fuck. With my schedule I don’t think they need to sedate me or put me on anesthesia. I’ll pass out from tiredness.

Ita had another convulsion at 2:24am Sunday morning :( For the first time he drooled and lost bladder and bowel control. I tried to hold him down a bit and call his name to relax him, and after a minute the seizure stopped and he ended up crying for a bit. I was covered in piss and shit and bleeding from scratches but was too worried to get grossed out. I called the vet clinic and finally got through to a doctor (Dr. Mike, not Ita’s regular doc). Dr. Mike told me to give Ita some food and rehydrating fluid, and to observe him and call the vet clinic if another seizure occured. I fed him, cleaned him up and let him lie on my stomach so I could tell if he was seizuring. Thankfully he stayed ok until morning.

I took Ita to the vet in the morning and Dr. Eve checked his temperature and did a fecalysis. It turns out that he is still infested with worms. Aggg. Dr. Eve says that they need to keep treating him for worms as the seizures could be caused by them (the worms can actually migrate to the spine or brain and cause the seizures, yikes). They could also be because Ita and It were rough-housing for quite a while and Ita used up all his energy. We left Ita at the vets again for treatment. Dr. Eve says that if we get rid of the worms and Ita still has attacks, then we need to place him on maintenance drugs (pheno). Ita should be back from the vet on Wednesday, but I won’t see him as it would be my turn to get confined heeeh.

I spent most of Saturday with Kay, Helen (w0wies), and Kay’s sister helping out with Maybelle’s wedding reception at the Pen. Kay and I went into a bit of a panic when she counted the number of guests because the number of invited guests was 50% more than the number of seats. Heeh.

We asked for 2 more tables to be set up and for 12 tables to have 12 settings each instead of 10. Thankfully that was enough to accommodate all the guests. The headwaiters Jun and Gil were really nice because they agreed to the changes an hour before the reception was to start :)

Trina (Kay’s sister) and I took care of receiving guests and telling them their table assignments. Helen was in charge of the gift list and the guest book. Kay did most of the coordination work - cueing, making the adjustments, counting guests, distributing parking tickets. She was really good and thought quickly on her feet. She would make a great wedding coordinator, not just because she was on-the-ball, but also because she seemed to enjoy the work. She is thinking of going into the coordination business with her sister and I think they will do very well.

And moi? I enjoyed the company of the girls, I liked helping Maybelle out, and I love organizing things. But coordination would really never be my thing. Too much dealing with people and having to smile. Heheh.

Ita Freakout

I was working at the office yesterday and Ita (new kitten) was whining beneath my chair. I picked him up to cuddle him, and he suddenly went into a seizure. I’m a wuss when it comes to these things, so I freaked and ran up and down the stairs in a panic while yelling. “Seizure! Seizure!”

Took Ita to the vet and they did a fecalysis and found he had roundworms - which could sap a kittens nutrients and possibly cause seizures. No other tests. Ita was dewormed and we took him home.

Now this peeves me a bit because we just picked Ita up a few days ago, and my dad took him to the vet for a checkup to see if he was ok. Nothing naman daw, so we were pretty kampante. I never thought the kitten had worms of any sort na.

I couldn’t concentrate on work na, and spent the rest of the day reading up on feline seizures.

I stayed at the office because I was worrying about him, and true enough he had 2 more seizures. 1 at 3am and another at 4:30am. I took him to the vet shortly after that. New vet, new diagnosis. Calcium deficiency daw malamang. Grrr. Siempre I got inis na. I asked the vet why he wasnt giving Ita any blood tests, what were all the possible causes….could it be Feline HIV? Cat Flu? Toxoplasmosis? Poisoning? What were they doing to rule out the possibilities? I felt like I was lecturing the vet. He tried to get some blood but didnt have a needle small enough, so I took Ita back with additional prescriptions (vitamins and rehydration fluids lang naman).

I was really antsy about everything so I took Ita to another vet clinic this morning. I felt this vet was more on-the-ball and concentrated, and asked her to try and get blood from Ita for tests. Ita’s really small so she only got a smidgen of blood, barely enough to test for dehydration and liver toxins. Pero better than nothing.

I think the seizures were caused by dehydration / sugar imbalance - because Ita had worms, and diarrhea and this was sapping his strength and causing the imbalance. We’re putting him on rehydration fluids, a feline I/D diet, and vitaminB, multivitamins, and calcium. I hope he feels better.

When your cat get seizures don’t move him, just make sure that he gets some air, cover with a towel (to protect your hand) and stroke him gently until the seizure ends. Try to observe the seizure so you can describe it to the vet. Take note of the time and duration. Consult the vet asap. Dont stick your hand in its mouth or you may injure yourself.

I know I am a bit of a pet hypochondriac, but really, with some of the vets here, it is best to be prepared.
