I just ate a pomegranate for the first time in my life. Apparently they’re in season from late October to December.
Get them heavy, brownish, darkish red, with smoothish skin. Sometimes the fruit is so full it bursts, thats ok. Dont get them when they’re soft and mushy.
Cut off the crown, score the fruit longitudinally and crosswise. Immerse in a bowl of water for about 5 minutes and then gently break the skin apart so the seeds are set free. Remove the floating white pith and strain so you are left with the juicy seeds. Yummm.
Be careful they stain like a mofo.
