Goodbye KinkyMinkly

Minkly

Not everybody liked her. A lot were really scared of her. But she was my dog. And when she would see me she would run to me and want to be carried. And she had this little Pikachu squeaky toy that she loved.

What the hell is a statue of Superman doing here?

– stupid remark of mine when I “touristed” at Coit Tower.

Acquisition shorts

Jeans

Rogan FumesRogan Fumes

I’ve always had “sturdy” legs so I couldn’t imagine wearing the skinny jeans that everyone was wearing in the last year or so even if I wanted to (leg just wont go through the jeans hehe). I had been eyeing some Rogans at the Rolo Garage for the past few months because I liked that they were really loose at the leg and not baggy… and FINALLY FINALLY they went on sale. Salamat, because I could not afford them otherwise. Well, I STILL couldn’t afford them heee. J paid for the jeans :P

I got 2 pairs - blue denim and black. Yay :)

Coat

A.P.C. Charlotte

A necessity in SF, especially since the “winter” is coming. I like them thin but insulating, and a bit tailored. I got this one in chocolate brown on sale (hehe notice a pattern). White would have been nice but it wasn’t there. Besides, I’m too madungis.

Shoes

Since I commute all the time and walk a lot I can really only use comfy walking shoes. I got a pair of aerosoles for 16bucks at Ross, but nothing beats sneakers talaga. So I got these.

Ultimate 81

But in my alternate rich, small-footed life I wear these

Sidetable

We don’t have a bed and sleep on a mattress on the floor. This is for practical reasons (no need to sweep under the bed) and really, we haven’t found a bed we like enough….(I’m liking this though)

I did need a side table because my books, glasses, phone, etcetera just form a pile of junk on my side of the floor. And when we were in Valencia St. last Saturday Joel found a nice simple, low one (about 14 inches high which is the lowest we found na hindi pasadya).

Sitcom EDO

It’s got this nice depression so my glasses don’t slip off :)

Still more prints for framing

Naku I got this and this, and we haven’t framed anything pa. I’m thinking of filling up the entire wall along the main entry hallway (a narrowish longish space) with a LOT of frames. From what I’ve got I’d say the main theme would be “women” hehe (here are the other prints I bought — 1, 2, 3). J likes things spare though, so this is still up for discussion.

Ok last na for this post.

Chair

I’ve always wanted a Pollock chair –we always wanted to use one in our projects but could never afford it, para man lang I could sit on one of these babies. No Eames aluminums for me (although I wouldn’t mind an apple green Spinneybeck one as a gift haha).

So when this came up on Craigslist J got it for the house. Buti nalang malapit na yung birthday ko :D

My dream chair. Smells like a lolo, but I still love it.

Food Info Post-filler

How do you like your eggs?: I have the urge to say “POWDERED” hahaha.  Sunny side up, runny yolks, whites with toasted edges, or poached as part of Eggs Benedict :D

How do you take your coffee/tea: Strong, lots of milk, splenda.

Favorite breakfast foods: the “silogs”, and variations of Eggs Benedict

Peanut butter: Creamy. Lily’s forever.

What kind of dressing on your salad?:
SASS Creamy Miso dressing, Poppyseed, Caesar, and this Bacon vinaigrette-ish dressing for a frisee salad I had at Fringale.

You’re feeling lazy. What do you make?:
Popcorn, or if we have it, crusty bread with olive oil

You’re feeling really lazy. What kind of pizza do you order?: I’ve never ordered Pizza in SF. We get a couple slices at Nizario’s (Greco - feta, olives, pesto, garlic, Spinach Pesto, and Nizarios - Salami, Pepperoni, Mushrooms, Onions, Bell Peppers, and Sausage) which is on Geary Ave (at 3rd Ave). In Manila we would order a Yellow Cab Pizza.

You feel like cooking. What do you make?: I never feel like cooking, so this would probably be hot chocolate.

Do any foods bring back good memories?: Peking Duck, Inihaw na Baboy with Garlic Rice - time with my friends in Manila.

Do any foods remind you of someone?: Nilaga - my grandmother used to cook a huge pot of this every weekend, Pochero - my favorite cooked by mom

Is there a food you refuse to eat?: Any part with eyes (fish eyes, squid leg/eye parts) and Dinuguan — which I used to love

What was your favorite food as a child? Chips Ahoy, Pork chops with Gravy from the school canteen, bread and butter.

Is there a food that you hated as a child but now love?
Karekare. The look of it and the fact that it went with smelly bagoong used to gross me out.

Is there a food that you loved as a child but now hate? Adobong Puso ng Saging. I loved it so much I would eat it almost everyday. I reached my lifetime consumption limit I guess.

Favorite fruit & vegetable: Fruit - mangosteen; Vegetable - artichoke, watercress

Favorite junk food: Cheetos, Honey Mustard Pretzels, and Kettle Chips

Favorite between meal snack: Cookies, cereal bar, popcorn

Do you have any weird food habits:
I put butter on fried chicken, eat raw bacon, like the “pwet” of the bread, and put sugar on my meat (tapa, spam, corned beef)

You’re on a diet. What food(s) do you fill up on? Does soda count? Salad din.

How spicy do you order Indian/Thai? Mild to Medium.

Can I get you a drink? Diet Coke, Thai Iced Tea / Coffee

Red wine or white? Red. I also like Rose’s

We only have beer: Corona.

Favorite dessert? Fack, that’s an entire post in itself. — chocolate souffle, flourless chocolate cake, coffee pie and Coffee Bean Sans Rival from Chateau 1771, Tocino del Cielo from Cafe Ysabel…. naku too many to mention (a la slambook)

Lunch today

Green Papaya Salad
fresh garlic, Thai chili, tomatoes, peanuts, spicy lime dressing

Salmon Sashimi Salad
fresh mango, lemon grass, kaffir lime leaf, red & green onions, sesame oil, spicy lime dressing

It was a belated birthday lunch for my officemate and we went to Osha, a “hip” (don’t you hate that word) Thai restaurant on Valencia Street.

The salads were delicious! and very pretty. It’s a pity J wasn’t there with his camera to take photos.

But my thai food heart still belongs to Thai House Express, home of the heavenly duck larb. I get kilig and do a dance of joy when I see it in front of me.

Pigkitty

The Demons of MUNI

I ride the bus to and from work everyday. It’s really convenient but sometimes I get sick of the inconsiderate yuks.

1. People who stink

For real, J was sitting beside a guy who looked like he hadn’t taken a bath in a month. He even looked like he had dandruff on his FACE. Gross.

2. People who talk too loud on the phone

Honestly, WHY??? I dont want to hear about your life I dont like you I am not interested. Just let me rest. Or you rest. In peace, fucker.

3. People who sit with their legs A P A R T

What, are your balls too big for you??!!

4. People who don’t move to the back of the bus.

Why do people bunch up in front? It’s not going to get you to your destination any faster, and I can’t pass through to the seats you idiots aren’t sitting in at the back.

5. People who sneak in through the back door

I used to ride the 27 bus from 5th and Market to Bryant St. and the driver was a bit of a mean-o. You could only enter from the front doors of the bus. I swear if some poor non-regular fucker entered from the back heheh it was “GET OFF PLEASE!! GET OFFFF!!!!! Enter from the FRONTTTTTT of the bus!!! GET OFF!! YOU! YES YOU!!!” Buti nga.

6. People who sneak in front of you and get your seat.

Kapal. You’re standing in front of some seated folk and then when the person seated in front of you leaves. Ayun, sasalisihan ka. From out of fucking nowhere. Talo pa ang ninja.

7. Drivers who start the bus moving even while people are getting on and off.

Once there was a lady who had 2 daughters with her. One was about 3, the other about 7. When she was getting down the 7 year old went first because mom was trying to carry the 3 year old so they could step off. And the bus started moving. At night. Leaving poor 7 in the dark. Mom freaks out calls the driver an asshole and yells until the bus stops and she gets to go off. I dont blame her. Kawawa naman yung 7 year old na naiwan sa labas. Traumatic yata yan.

8. Drivers who dont stop for you.

After waiting in the cold for 45 minutes and seeing the bus whoosh by you just hope they get a UTI and pee blood.
