Just had to

You Are 80% Evil

You are very evil. And you’re too evil to care.
Those who love you probably also fear you. A lot.

Big Boy Ita

I really miss Ita and the rest of the office cats. Ita’s been doing very very well, thankfully.

Burgers and Ice cream in Sausalito

I thought I would finally get to taste those famous In-N-Out burgers because after church today J agreed to take a trip north of SF so we could get some pillowcases and burgers at Marin.

We totally forgot it was Easter Sunday and realised too late that most of the shops would be closed (we were not the only ones shaking In-N-Out’s locked doors hehe there were 2 other people who arrived, peered in the dark, people-less place, and shook the doors just-to-be-sure hahah).

Good thing J decided to drive across the freeway into Sausalito. We parked near the town square and walked into this tiny place called Hamburgers (!) I was a bit mesmerised by the burgers on a rotating grill by the window. Man, they looked juicccey. J and I had a cheeseburger each (6.70) — medium please, and an order of fries (2.75) and were told we could return in 10minutes for our food.

We walked toward the water and saw a lot of nice art galleries (there’s on across Hamburgers that sells Dr. Seuss art, and one at the end of the block (towards the water) that sells old photographs. We didn’t wander far, I was a bit too hungry.

The burgers tasted nice and grilled and juicy and the cheese (a danish cheese I believe) was nice and mild and melted. The buns are great too, not sweet but substantial, and the bread was topped with a lot of sesame seeds. We ate inside the cramped store but if it were sunnier I think it would be better to eat while seated on the benches along the plaza.

After the burgers (had to bag half of mine, they were big) we walked a bit and had dessert at Lappert’s. 1 scoop each of Kauai Pie, which is Kona Coffee Ice Cream, Toasted Coconut, Chocolate Fudge, Toasted Macadamia Nuts. Deadly, no? I had a cup of coffee to go with my ice cream and the coffee was just right in tempering the sweetness of the scoop.

I wish I could have posted photos but J had only a 135mm prime lens (I don’t even know what that is really) and he said it was not the right piece of equipment for photos.

Anyway I hope everyone enjoyed spring break/holyweek. I’m going to spend my last weekend hours watching A History of Violence and cleaning up the house a bit :)

Oh and I read that Rockwell Mall is giving out rabbits in some sort of Easter Promo I wish they understood that having a pet is a responsibility not a prize :(  and you should only give them to people who know and accept all the responsibilities that come with owning a pet.  Could stuffed toys not have been enough? And if they gave away hundreds of bunnies like I heard (1000 pa nga nabasa ko) then what hole did the breeders pull these bunnies out of? Baka some of them are not fit to sell.  I hope they do well but fear that in a month half of the bunnies given away will be dead.

Feathering the nest

San Francisco (and the entire Bay Area, I believe) has been experiencing a lot lot lot of rain lately. First it was 25 days of rain and then a few days of sun, and then now it is raining again :(

We did get to spend some time during the last 2 weekends checking out furniture for our apartment. At first I thought J and I would lock horns on most items of furniture as he goes more for the modern look and I think I am somewhat crushing on the eclectic look. It’s been a lot less painless than I thought and today we ordered the living and dining stuff.

This is our living room.

It faces the south so we get some pretty good light during the day. Right now there are boxes on the floor and a weights bench by the window. I better clear everything out in the next 3 weeks or so.

We got a condo-sized couch in this nice color called “Caramel”

A pair of Barcelonas

And a Noguchi center table

and a 3′x5′ rug from angela adams.

We’ll probably keep one of our bookshelves and the current low tv-console until we can replace them in future.

The dining room is quite a nice space too.

We actually use this area more because our 2 humongous work/computer tables (pushed by the long wall), and Sophie’s cat perch (beside the window), have been placed here.

For the dining room all we got were 6 chairs

and a dining table somewhat like this but with a slimmer profile.

Whew, wasn’t that a lot of shopping in a day? Most of the items will be arriving in a month, except for the dining chairs which are on back-order until June 15!! (they’re wrapped in real leather and kinda cheap kasi).

I’ve also bought some prints from Sas Christian. I’ve loved her work since years ago and when I grow up I’ll have an original on our wall.

I got 1 2 3 but we haven’t framed them or decided where to place them yet.

Gosh, this is really quite exciting. :)
