We moved into our new apartment 2 weeks ago and although the place is still chock-a-block with boxes I am starting to get my “interior design/possession obsession/dreaming” urges and have been trying to imagine how the place will end up.
We’ve got a lot of stuff to get because we came from a studio which had (1) a queen sized mattress (2) a coffee table (3) 2 folding japanese floor chairs, (4) a TV and TV table, and (5) two computer stations. Not much stuff and I would love to junk most of these items anyway.
I believe J and I will end up with mostly modern furniture (J likes clean lines and neat arrangements). But I can’t help but want a couple of older pieces that will serve as a counterpoint to the linear aspects of design. I like things “medyo paling” if you catch my drift.
Here goes:
My dream dining table is actually sold at DWR. It’s called the Timavo Table.
What I like about it is that it has clean lines and sexy curves. And the proportions are just right. Not too heavy, not too flimsy. If I were in Manila I could have a copy of this made by our joiners, but since I am in SF, land of expensive labor, then I think this table is going to remain a dream, for now.
I think it would look great with some white Panton Chairs from Vitra.
Or even this dining chair from Scandinavian Designs.
I saw a beautiful wrought iron chandelier at Kish last year. It’s a vine-and-flower design that’s painted white. It was so pretty I almost bought it even if I had no place to put it. I was thinking I would keep it in a box until I could use it. I would order it now if I could, and ship it to SF (I said I was dreaming diba hehe).
When I was having coffee with RJ earlier today we stumbled into a treasure of a shop called Muzzy’s Attic and I got a beautiful pair of golden-beige candles with rosettes on them. I got them for 4 bucks the pair (yay!) and I think they’ll be gorgeous on our future dining table. Now all I need to get are some pretty candle holders hehe. I’ll probably get them at the same store, because I am also eyeing some paintings I saw there (heeh).
Side comment:
Why the fuck do they call DWR, Design Within Reach. How in the world is a $3000+ table reachable for me?
